Discuss the idea and the sketch in advance
Before the session we discuss the idea, the placement and the size of the tattoo, and then a sketch is prepared for your body. It is better to settle all questions about the composition in advance, not on the day of the session. If you have references, send them beforehand.
A checklist before the session
A calm, well-fed body tolerates sensations more easily, and the skin heals better. Here is what to do the day before, on the day itself, and what to bring.
Checklist
The day before
- get enough sleep: lack of sleep amplifies sensations;
- do not drink alcohol, it can worsen how you feel and how you heal;
- look after the skin in the tattoo area: do not get sunburnt or irritate it;
- if you are ill, it is better to reschedule the session.
On the day of the session
- eat in advance: pain is harder to tolerate on an empty stomach;
- take a shower before you come;
- choose clothes that leave the area open;
- arrive without rushing.
What to bring
- water and a light snack;
- a phone charger;
- references and a sketch, if you have them.
Health and contraindications
Tell your artist about allergies, chronic conditions and any medication you take, as well as about pregnancy. It determines whether a tattoo is possible and how the work should be planned. If in doubt, it is better to see a doctor first.
These are general recommendations. Check the exact requirements for preparation with your artist before the session.
